Banquets and Presentation of Awards

 The year and banquets and presentation of awards will be held on :

May 16, 2011 for Initiation and Novice

May 17, 2011 for Atom, Peewee, Bantam, Midget, Female U12 and Female U20.

Both banquets will start at 530 pm and will be held at Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium.

EVMHA Annual General Meeting

The EVMHA annual general meeting will be held on June 8 at 730 pm upstairs at Barney's . All parents are encouraged to attend.
 

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

Any member(s) in good standing of the Exploits Valley Minor Hockey Association wishing to propose amendments to the Constitution must have proposed amendments submitted in writing to the Executive at least 14 days prior to the AGM.


NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Thanks to Dexter Fewer who has agreed to serve as Chair of the Nominating Committee for the upcoming AGM. Any member(s) in good standing of the Exploits Valley Minor Hockey Association wishing to offer themselves for a position on the Executive for the 2011-2012 season can do so by submitting their name in writing in advance of the AGM to Dexter at dfewer@cbdc.ca . Please note that nominations will also be taken from the floor at the AGM as well.

Exploits Minor Hockey are pleased to announce the commencement of a new award
 

The family of the late Jaye Butler, long time teacher,
coach/instructor and hockey mentor, are sponsoring an award for two worthy recipients. Applications will be made available on the Minor Hockey website.

Notice from Executive (Please Read)

After the most recent executive meeting and review of accounts it has been noted that there are a number of outstanding Registration and Rep team fees.
All fees were due by December 31-2010, however the executive let this extend due to the Christmas season.

Please be advised that ALL FEES are now LONG PAST DUE.

All Registration and /or Rep team fees must be paid by March-31-2011. Failure to pay the balance in full or to make arrangements to pay will result in the coaching staff being notified that the child will not be allowed to participate in House League / Practice / Rep team events including Provincial tournament play, and removal of the player from the HNL roster.
Please ensure that all fees are paid so as to avoid the executive having to resort to this action.

Central Thunder Midgets win Silver at Atlantics

Central Thunder Midgets won Silver Medal at Atlantic tournament in Clarenville this past weekend.

In addition the team took home half the medals at the awards banquet capturing Top Forward, Top Goaltender and MVP.

CENTRAL MIDGET AAA TEAM WIN PROVINCIAL PLAY DOWNS

Grand Falls-Windsor, NL

The Central Thunder AAA Midget team won the Newfoundland and Labrador World's Finest Chocolate Provincial AAA Midget Championship after beating the Sheriffs of St. John’s 6-1 in the championship game on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Trinity Placentia Arena.

The Thunder were lead by Jared King who had two goals in the contest with singles from Tyler Perry, Zack Dalley, Michael Bouzane and Trent Perry. Mark Day scored the lone goal for the Sheriffs. The championship teams went undefeated during round robin play and tied each other earlier in the tournament.

The Central Team, that has players from ten different communities in the area, will now represent the province at the AAA Midget Atlantic Championship in Clarenville, NL from March 24-27, 2011.
 

Hometown Boys are Adam Loveridge, Daniel Curnew. Micheal Greening, Josh Randell, Shawn Loveridge and Ryan Penny..

Exploits A Peewee Cataracts win gold

The Exploits A Peewee Cataracts won gold at the Clarenville seven team tournament this past weekend. The Cataracts defeated home team Clarenville Caribous by a score of 6-3 in the Championship game. Congratulations Cataracts!

Female U12 Capture Gold

The Exploits Female U12 Hockey Team captured Gold this past weekend at the Gander Invitational Female Hockey Tournament.
On saturady the Exploits team had a 2 and 1 round robin record with its only loss to Gander by a score of 3 to 2.

On Sunday Exploits faced Gander again, this time for the Gold Medal. After the first period it was 4 to 0 for Gander. The Exploits team battled back and won the game by a score of 5 to 4.

Congratulating Maria Griffin

We had some great news from the Female U12 team over the weekend, Maria Griffin was selected out of 100 applicants (female U12) to scrimmage with Team Canada/Female on Nov 6 in St John’s, Maria is 1 of 4 female under 12 girls from the central zone that will be participating, Maria and other U12 girls will scrimmage with the top female players in Canada who are representing our country in the 4 Nations Cup in St John’s next month.

House League Practice Groups

Notice:

For the start of the season practices group in divisions Novice, Atom and Peewee will be based on age such that first year players in each group will be a practice group and second year players in each group will be a practice group. This will be temporary until all registration is finalized and House League teams are designated. For Initiation the first year group will include players who will be either 4 or 5 by December 31st, 2010 with all others in the second year group.

The EVMHA wishes to have our House League Coaches and Divisional Directors in place in advance of our October 4th start date, anybody interested in volunteering for those positions are asked to submit names to Director at Large Jeff Taylor.
