Exploits Valley Pee Wee "A" Beothucks strike gold
The Exploits Valley Pee Wee "A" Beothucks found their scoring touch, winning the gold medals and the Dean C. Little Memorial Cup at the Dean C. Little Memorial Hockey Tournament held in Bonavista March 4-5, 2006. The Beothucks went through the tournament undefeated, scoring come from behind victories over Bonavista, Wesleyville Beothic, and Glovertown in the round robin, and another come from behind victory over Wesleyville in the playoff. The Championship contest, on Sunday afternoon at Cabot Stadium, featured the host Bonavista Cabots and Exploits Valley. This time the Beothucks scored first and maintained the lead for a 7-2 victory.
Beothucks goalies Josh Randell and Nick Burt were top goaltenders in the tournament. Brandon Dormody was named the team's most sportsminded player and Brandon Jewer received the award for being the tournament's top scorer.
