Exploits Valley Bantams Win Silver Medal At Provincial Championship

    The Exploits Valley Bantam Beothucks captured the Silver Medal at the Provincial Bantam "C" Tournament held in Harbour Grace April 20-22, 2006. Exploits Valley finished the round robin with a record of four wins and one loss. The Championship Game featured the Beothucks and Lake Melville. Lake Melville claimed the Gold Medal with a 5-3 victory.


 Cee Bees Win Gold at the Pee Wee "C" Provincial Tournament

    The Conception Bay Cee Bees  defeated Lewisporte 7-3 in the Championship Game at the Provincial Pee Wee "C" Tournament  in Grand Falls-Windsor Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2006. The Cee Bees, who went through the round robin undefeated, captured the Provincial Championship in a hard fought final matchup. Lewisporte, also undefeated in the round robin, claimed the Silver Medal. Exploits Valley had a record of three wins and two losses during the tournament, good enough for a third place finish and the Bronze Medal. [ results ] The Most Sportsminded Team Award, presented in memory of Twin Town Captain Dylan Gould, who died in a tragic accident earlier this month, went to Twin Town. The Twin Town team played with great courage and character throughout the tournament and were an inspiration to all those around them.

     The Most Valuable Player Award went to Marcus Freake of Lewisporte. The Top Scorer Award also went to Lewisporte's Number Eight, Marcus Freake. Zach Laing of the Cee Bees received the Most Sportsminded and Ability award.  Cee Bees goalie, Brandon Shute was the tournament's top goalie. Top defenseman award went to Jalen Hounsell of the Wesleyville Beothic.

     In other news from Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador's Provincial Tournaments, Exploits Valley Midgets claimed the Bronze Medal at the Midget "B" competition. That event took place April 17-19, 2006 at Cabot Stadium in Bonavista.

     Exploits Valley Atom "A" team came up with the Bronze Medal at the Atom "C" Tournament. That tournament took place in St. John's April 17-19.


     Stephenville Wins Gold at the All Newfoundland and Labrador Female "B" Tournament in Grand Falls-Windsor

     Stephenville emerged Provincial Champs at the All Newfoundland and Labrador  Female "B" Tournament held in Grand Falls-Windsor April 7-9, 2006. Five teams competed for the Provincial Title including Stephenville, St. Anthony, Lake Melville, Twin Town and the host Exploits. Stephenville defeated St. Anthony 6-3 in the gold medal contest at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium. Stephenville finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss. The team's only defeat came at the hands of the host, Exploits. Exploits finished in a three-way tie for second with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. [ results ]
