The Blades took a 2-0 lead into the 1st intermission with the Cats answering with markers of their own in the 2nd to tie the game with only 12 seconds remaining in the period. The 3rd period saw back and forth action with Exploits going ahead 3-2 at 7:12 only to have Mount Pearl tie the game at 3-3 at 4:38. The Cats clawed their way ahead 4-3 with 2:48 left in the game only to have the Blades even the score at 2:24 and then scored what proved to be the game winning goal at 1:34 in the 3rd for a final score of 5-4.

The Cataracts took a 4-1 record into the championship game facing once again the Mount Pearl Blades which was a tight checking affair until the Blades opened the scoring midway through the second period. A tough Cataracts team tied the game only to have the Blades explode for four goals and take a 5-2 lead into the second intermission. Solid goaltending and a stifling team defence in the third period secured the win for the Blades.
